Tommy has spent 15 years researching alien phenomena to inform their work. The artist notes several challenges in this field:

• The interpretation of alien phenomena is wide open because the five senses limit humans, whereas aliens may possess more.
• The English language is insufficient for explaining extraterrestrial experiences.
• Scientific and governmental authorities require proof based strictly on human sensory perception, making it difficult to communicate lived experiences.
